Marshall Brothers’ primary services include the installation, sanding and refinishing, and replacement of hardwood flooring and stairs.  From the basic sand and finish to the most complicated installation of inlays and medallions, Marshall Brothers can handle all of your hardwood flooring needs.  Marshall Brothers can provide you with all of the materials and labor for the job or simply install your materials for you.  Marshall Brothers can also take care of all of your stair needs including new staircase construction, railing replacement, or curved and spiral installations.  While most stair companies will simply build your staircase for you, Marshall Brothers will also sand and finish it for you eliminating the need to hire a painter to finish your staircase.  In addition to hardwood flooring and stairs, Marshall Brothers can handle any of your finish carpentry needs including crown molding, chair rail, base trim, shadow boxes, and coffered ceilings.  Just point us in the right direction with a picture or a vision of what it is your looking for, and we’ll bring it to life.

Every Marshall Brothers wood-flooring customer, no matter how big or small the job may be receives a complimentary wood floor cleaning kit.  The professional cleaning kit includes a terry cloth cleaning mop complete with mop head and pole.  The kit also includes a spray bottle of cleaning solution that is made especially for cleaning your Marshall Brothers hardwood floor no matter what finish was applied.  The solution works on pre-finished flooring as well.  After vacuuming your floor to pick up hair, dirt, and sand, simply wet the terry cloth mop with warm water and wring out so its just damp, then mist the cleaning solution on the floor using the convenient spray bottle and mop the floor with the grain.

Marshall Brothers stands behind the work it does simply because a quality job is our best marketing tool. We take pride in every job that we do and treat your home as if it were our own.

All floors and staircases installed, sanded, and finished by Marshall Brothers are either completed by or supervised by Jim Marshall, the owner of Marshall Brothers. Most of the jobs done by our company will have at least a two-man crew at the job during the entire process. All of our floors are installed, sanded, and finished according to the National Wood Flooring Association’s recommendations and are guaranteed for two years after the date of installation. The guarantee includes buckling due to improper installation and/or excessive spaces between the boards. All floors will be installed with proper underlayment. Typically the underlayment used will be 15# felt especially in new construction projects and areas of New Jersey that tend to have more drastic changes in humidity. Marshall Brothers guarantees that the wood will be installed with moisture content between 6-8%. For jobs where the materials were not purchased through Marshall Brothers, the moisture content cannot be guaranteed.

We use top-of-the-line machinery for the industry that will provide you with the best finished product possible. Marshall Brothers is very safety conscience and uses only the best tools and safety equipment on the market. Our installation and sanding tools include products made by Lagler Hummel, Clarke American Sanders, Fein, DeWalt, Bosch, Bostich, HighPro and Crain. In addition, all of our crews are trained by Jim Marshall himself and are adept in the use of both oil-based and water-based finishes including Basic Coatings and Bona Kemi products.

While wood flooring sometimes seems to have a mind of its own with regard to expansion and contraction caused by changes in humidity (mainly cracks between boards), Marshall Brothers will always be there to diagnose and troubleshoot any problems you may encounter involving any work performed by our company. Whether the problem is an installation error, misuse or mistreatment of the floor, or simply an act of nature, Marshall Brothers will be there to determine the cause of the problem and present options for repair. Whether covered under the Marshall Brothers guarantee, a homeowner’s policy, or out of pocket repair, our job is to make your house more beautiful than the day we arrive.
